UNAOC’s 2nd Global Dialogue:

"Towards the World of #OneHumanity – The Role of Artificial Intelligence"

20 October 2023, Palais des Nations, Geneva
Room XX, Human Rights and Alliance of Civilizations Room

Organized by the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC)
in collaboration with the Onuart Foundation

The United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), in collaboration with the Onuart Foundation, is convening the 2nd edition of its Global Dialogue “Building a World of One Humanity”, to address current trends and debates around AI-enabled technologies, and how they can be harnessed to promote better global governance, mutual respect and development. Special attention will be given to the potential of Artificial Intelligence to transform our world to make it more inclusive, less conflictual and its implications for Human Rights.

AI-enabled technologies have become even more relevant over the last year. The emergence of Chat GPT by the end of 2022, with its growing creative capabilities, continues to fuel a global debate that must not forget the foundational principles of Human Rights. Artificial Intelligence opens several possibilities for powerful enabling tools in the service of Human Intelligence. It is of utmost importance that multi-stakeholder multilateral fora reduce the potential dangers and misuse of these technologies and clarify their potential positive effects. In this sense, the meeting will analyze the profound transformation of all sectors of activity through the impact of AI-technologies, innovation at the government level under these instruments, as well as the transformation trends in societies, particularly the challenges and dilemmas posed by Artificial Intelligence.

At this crossroads of history, innovation and inclusion are critical, and Artificial Intelligence in the service of humanity can empower diversity, respect and progress for all and its good direction can contribute to building a better world. A strong public-private partnership is essential to drive the whole transformation process in harmony. The meeting will serve to deepen, manifest, and visualize this partnership.

The UNAOC concluded the 1st edition of its Global Dialogue with a manifesto endorsing the promotion of a global citizenship that can move towards the One Humanity World. In this second edition, International Organizations, technical experts, private sector representatives and academics will discuss how AI technologies can help build “The One Humanity World”, making it more inclusive, more focused on unlocking talent and how we can use the tools at our disposal to make technological progress, scientific progress and fundamental rights move forward together.
